Bird and animal habitats around the world are being destroyed not only by light pollution but land clearing by greedy humans the perfect example of this is the Amazon Rainforest.
Yes, it is more in towns and cities, but light pollution now affects great swathes of the countryside also. For the owls it is decreasing the time available for hunting and for the songbirds it is causing them to change the time of their singing.
And yes, there are other factors at work - sound pollution, for example which is preventing birds from mating because they can't hear the calls of their mates.
What, oh what are we doing to this Earth?
ReplyDeleteI take it this is in towns and cities, Dave? In our rural spot we still seem to get plenty of both.
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing with the recovery from cataract surgery? Hope you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteWould that be due to the volcano that changed our summer, I wonder!!!
ReplyDelete*shivers*
ReplyDeleteI do believe that light pollution is a problem.
