  1. Dave - I like that a whole lot. Any chance you could tell more about it? What is the size? Did you paint it from a photo or on site or from imagination?

    It looks really great.

  2. Dave this is a very strong image.
It looks as if there are many layers.A touch of Paul Klee may I say?

  3. How did you achieve this Dave - it is fascinating.

  4. Intriguing.
Looks like a cluster of Trees in the winter with a couple of Church Steeples in the top left corner.
    I like it.

  6. That's a strong image of a other worldly place washed in the blood of imagination.

  8. Thanks for your visit, David!! Love this painting, especially as I am trying to get more abstract in my own work. It looks like houses and trees to me... :-) Silke

  9. Fabulous image, Dave. Does this use some computer manipulation? Whatever, it is excellent!

  10. HOuses, trees... some look like birches. Why? I don't know and it doesn't matter. Dave, you have such talent on so many fronts. It's a joy to be able to read and to see what you do. Thank you.

  11. Fascinating and sensually pleasing.

I am also wondering about the medium.

  12. A cathedral of trees perhaps?

    It's a wonderful image.

  13. OK, the general queries first. I will be back later to reply individually.

It began life as a multi-media sketch - watercolour, gouache and inks. The size was 56 X 36 cm. I experimented with smaller prints and some photographic manipulation of the colours. The post is from one of those, though it is the one nearest to the original, which I thought the most successful, which is perhaps as it should be. The original sketch was made from "life", but freely. No attempt to be faithful to what was there. It is houses and trees, but I do not at all mind if you see it differently. The intention was that the design should grow compatibly.

  14. Love this Dave, the colours, the atmosphere, the shapes. (saw the trees and houses ok, but as some kind of skeletal aftermath. Beautiful in a haunting way.

    Much appreciate the interest. Thanks.

I guess I'm too bashful to agree completely. Hadn't thought it, but see what you mean.

I suppose I achieved it in two phases - the original drawing and the later prints.

I did actually draw it in winter.

    Karen
    Kind of you. Thanks.

Mmm, I need to think about whose blood that might have been!

I, too, am becoming more abstract, in inclination, if not in achievement.

    Thanks

The manipulation was minimal for this version.

That's a very much appreciated response. Thanks.

My media are becoming more and more mixed.

More than matched by your image, methinks!

I love that skeleal aftermath. Delightful phrase. Thank you.

  17. This is so fun! For me, it's like overlays from different time periods, as though one is time traveling and seeing the various structures and plantings as they are erected and grow. When you travel too quickly, the images blend together like a non spinning mobius strip.

    Always good to visit you.
