All My thanks again to each and every. Wonderful suggestion from Helen, I thought - and in a Haiku, too!
What struck me, reading this piece of news was the way in which the stats were given. i.e. misleadingly, as so often. They didn't mean the average Egyptian, of course, though that's what they said. For a start, there is a 30% illiteracy rate, and those who can read tend not to read novels. Sales of a few hundred books counts as a best seller.

Really only one page every four years! Good grief!
it would certainly cut down on their amazon bills! steven
Hi Dave,
When your whole life is a mix of history, archaeology and wild romance, who needs to read?!
Four years is a shame ..
Folks should read books together ..
And step up the pace!
They were much too busy coming up with their cotton!
They must have been those huge stone tablets.
In that case, reading the "Harry Potter Series" will go down in history. And that would be with a Mummy... tee hee
Have an awesome day Dave!:)
Nice one :)

Statistics are weird,
making truth ambiguous.
It's hard to trust them.
I read this to my Egyptian husband - he laughed.
