Six Word Memoir Challenge

I have been tagged to write a six-word memoir by poet hound, a challenge which appealed to me, the challenge being to sum up my life in six words. I do believe that in the attempt I have learnt a bit about myself!

The game is an interesting twist on a challenge Earnest Hemingway was once offered. He bet $10 that he could sum up his life story in six words. He wrote: For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.

Here are the rules:

* Write your own six word memoir
* Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like
* Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere
* Tag five more blogs with links
* And don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!

My wife asked me about this a week or so ago - I guess she'd been tagged - and I gave it some thought. I'm not really into doing a whole blog about it but I'm happy enough to pass on what I said to her which is effectively an obituary:

Failed. Failed again. Failed better. Died.

If I could have an extra word I would have made it:

Failed. Failed again. Failed better. Dropped dead.

I'll have a go, although as I get older I become increasingly uneasy about writing anything that moves towards a conclusion!

This is also reminiscent of the ultimate headline contest. Can't remember the contestants, but the winner stated: INFANT SURGEON IN MERCY DASH TO PALACE.
