Vernal equinox.
Early migrant birds get worms -
and prime building sites.

Very amusing the thought of a bird utilising "prime" real estate

furrowing away
has many advantages
if your name is Vern.

That was pure nonsense,
but I wrote it anyway -
I can't help myself.

yes, the early bird gets the worm and the best nest site.

Thanks for those. Liked the Haiku. Have been thinking whether nonsense haiku might be a possibility - can't be reconciled with the genre, I know. Still, there can't be a law against it.

Loved this.

Why can't you reconcile nonsense with the genre? Is it inherently so serious? We often make funny haikus here at a bi-monthly contest sponsored by a variety radio show.

How about

Life is easier
for the birds who build their nests
free from zoning rules.
