The End

This is the end,
the end of time, the end
of one expanding universe,
the end as it will be
for any closed creation.
See the light! Take note. No more
is it redshifted. All implodes,
expansion done
phase 2 in place
the universe now
recollapsing on itself,
its journey done.
All stars and planets,
galaxies and constellations,
all of us
in one mad rush
towards extinction
and that final
bigger bang.

The image was provided by Magpie Tales for this week's prompt.

The End of the world the beginning of everything.

Thought provoking - I wonder if everything will start again? - I wonder if there's any place to escape?

Great take on the Big Bang, ad infinitum.

Package this poem with your picture in a container to be found a thousand years from now on another planet.

This looks more like an exploding mille feuille paper-weight to me Dave - hope so as I don't want the end just yet.

Dave, I fear there may be some truth to this. Love the ending:)

Great the feeling of this rushing, the bigger bang reminds me though of the much worse"wimper" of the end of "The Hollow Men" which is a scenario that unfortunately can't be discarded!
Let's continue to wish for a bang anyway.

Wonderful take - but I hope it is not in my lifetime!

Again, beautifully composed.

Windsmoke
Thanks for that.

Sailor
Absolutely!

SweetTalkingGuy
I believe it depends on whether the universe is an open one, a closed one or something in between!

anthonynorth
There's a thought!

TechnoBabe
And there's another thought! ( I thank you for it.)

Hi, welcome to my blog, and many thanks for stopping by to comment.

I think you could be right - doesn't bear thinking about, though, does it?

The Weaver of Grass
Dash, you spotted it!

Pamela
Not teally a happy one, though!

Tommaso
Mmmm... except, I'm very sympathetic towards The Hollow Men.

HyperCRYPTICal
I join you in that hope - quite optimistically, as it goes.

Liz
Exactly!

Isabel
Dreams? Or nightmares? Thanks whichever.

Phase 2. Interesting scenario and surely it moves at a rapid pace. Nicely posed.
