Song of a Once-Lost Soul!

Full well I know that I must be
condemned to death's eternity,
it is not feasible there'd be
a holy place reserved for one
so tainted with impiety,
a creature that not God nor man
nor other creatures prize,
a sinner and a failure
in my loving saviour's eyes,
one who rather is despised
for being what I am.

Thus was my state just yesterday,
but now my fears have rolled away;
I'm up again, my saviour's near
and I am tanked with foaming beer

Ups and downs, huh. I don't drink but some days are awesome and some not so much.

Saving grace impiety, I say.

Dave,
Nice as always...

So it is that facing the unknown be it salvation or nothingness at the safe light of day or wee hours of the night...

If we are honest the question and the freedom to ask it is still open

But your poetry is forever...

Hush friends, promise not to tell the others and I'll let you into a secret.

The first stanza was the first stanza of a poem I wrote in my early teens. There were a lot more verses, all going on indistinguishably from it. It's been an embarrassment for a long while, and I decided that the only way to deal with it was to cash in on its humorous side. Thanks for all your reassuring comments.

And now, a warm welcome to PeSla. Good to have you visiting.

Dave, I felt quite the same in my teen-aged years. Even dancing was sinful, for pity sake. Thankfully my perspectives and beliefs have changed....as apparently have yours!
