Hi Dave,

Not sure I know what news item this is about unless it's something to do with 'Transubstantiation'?

I'm with steven and Carl. I like your effort to fit your haiku into the 5-7-5 form. Appeals to my sense of order. I think, though, being a media hermit that I miss a lot of the newsy connections...

Yes, I was reading about that research Dave. Can't say it surprises me.

And, of course we do less and less physical work (he says sitting in his lazyboy chair typing on his laptop while drinking coffee).

hardly ever get to see humour in 'haiku'. Well said!

This is one of my favorites. So succinct.

All Many thanks for your comments, read with interest - and gratitude!

The story behind this one is that they have computer-analysed the 50 best-regarded paintings of the Last Supper and have discovered that the meal has become consistently larger over the decades, reflecting the average size of a main meal at the time of painting. (The quantity of wine drunk has also risen consistently.)

that's witty...

Though these researches always make me wonder whether they NEED computers to compare the food depicted in 50 paintings.

nicely done! appreciated the context as well.
your haikus are quite enjoyable.... # 85 was a laugh out loud... loved, loved, loved the agony column; you have a fine sense of irony.

nice to be back reading after a couple of weeks of crazy work schedule

Some excellent points made in the second tranche of comments, for which much thanks. To pick up on one such, my first response was to wonder whether the computer was necessary. They said it was needed to compare the size of the portions with the size of their heads. I think they needed the computers to get the funding approved - whose going to doll out lolly for guys to "just look" at paintings?

Special welcomes to bard, Borah and Sarai and my thanks to all for commenting.
