I read the same bit of news this morning and was struck by the watershed announcement. No hard copy of Oxford English Dictionary?!!!
How the times have changed.
It seems like only yesterday,-
the door-to-door encyclopaedia salesman and every home a full set of Brittanica in the lounge - dad in the armchair smoking his pipe and reading a volume - the children suitably gobsmacked sitting enthralled at his feet, mum smiling as she fetches the cat from the kitchen
Ah yes, those were the days, Poet in Residence! You must admit, Dave, it will require far less shelf space!

OED stands for Oxford English Dictionary.
Inevitable, I suppose. The same article suggested that all other hard copies will go the same way in the next 10 years or so.
