Ice edged wind on a tooth's frayed nerve
panic of God on a pounding tongue
hammering somewhere inside the head
the anvil flesh absorbing pain.
God is buried
though God has won,
the Devil's lost
though the devil's loose.
All the world is racked with pain.
Decay is silent in the tooth
the eyes are blind
the flesh is vain -
while a terminal nerve,
bared to the wind,
shoots sparks of ice at the sun.

Ouch Dave, I feel this. Brilliantly descriptive as usual. I hope you get to a dentist VERY soon!
Ouch indeed! This resonates... usually have to get to this stage before I visit a dentist though.

I know how bad this feels. Love these lines:
while a terminal nerve,
bared to the wind,
shoots sparks of ice at the sun.
happy sunday~
Oh yes, I do agree Dave, bad toothache drives every other thought from one's head.
Owww!
I have sensitive teeth so I get a brief hint of this whenever I have ice cream...
decay is silent int he tooth...wow great line there...the nerve at the end as well...this is well layered dave
You captured it exactly.
Great, it goes to the root, whatever root.
Comparing the world's pain with a toothache priceless. Especially with the recent terrorist bombing in Norway :-).
At least you haven't reached the stage where you think the devil has won!
Marvelous sensory impressions....
Oh, Dave, you have made me feel the toothache I DON'T (thank god) have! Painfully well written.
OUCH! My teeth ache from reading this!

Oooer... sorry about that!

Yes, I know... in defense of which I might say that I wrote it before all these thing errupted - and it was never meant to be JUST a toothach!

Nope, don't think I ever will, I'm too much the optimist. An honorable draw, maybe - but then I'm not sure the Devil's all bad! He's a bit like Judas, all part of the plan. My thanks.
Mary
Painfully written, as it happens - what we do for the sake of art! Thanks.
Lolamouse
Humble apologies. Not intended.
I am sure! Still turning your pain to art.. That's pretty amazing. I hope the tooth is better soon.
Carl
Thanks for the response. Fine just now!
This article might help with the immediate toothaches in the future! Hope it is a help :)

Hi! A warm welcome to my blog. Thank you for visiting and for your comment. It does help - slightly!

Is that better than evoking pain? Not sure... Thanks for responding.
This is better off posted in a dental office. It will certainly help people realize how important dental care is. You have a very creative mind, and it’s great that you’re putting it to good use!
