Best Love is Never Seasonal

Best love is never seasonal.
It may begin on some high plane,
a bare plateau where nothing grows --
or has not until now. It's looking down
(or back)the lovers see their futures.

The world removed from love (and them)
looks small, not worth a French kiss
with an empty mussel shell. They shall
much rather forge their worldly way.
With nothing set in stone, all things

are possible. The frisson is between them, not
between them and our world. They look around
like frightened rabbits with no bolt hole.
They should be focussed on each other. Spring
holds the key, but love is never seasonal.

Written for Willow's prompt at Mag 164, with much thanks for the image.

So very true...real love is never conditional nor dependent on fair weather...neither does it interact with the world around the lovers.

It is our eternal spring...:)

Powerful and true words. Definitely not seasonal.

seasonal? love is such that the winter seems warm and the summer cool.

exquisitely done :)

How about getting rid of this infuriating Word Verification. It's a time wasting nuisance and serves no purpose whatsoever except to annoy your readers.

Well said, Doctor! Elderly eyesight has trouble with WV.
Great poem, Dave.

Each scenes in some season might add something unforgettable for lovers, but love is never seasonable, yes.

I loathe the word verification farce as well - but I like you enough to suffer its frustration, I hate to say. LOL

Maybe love is all about the timing after all?

Doctor FTSE
Apologies. I certainly shall. It annoys me, too. I put it in because I was sinking beneath the junk. It's days are numbered. Just give it a while.
