We have real problems. Removing a cigar from a picture taken 60+ years ago boils my blood. We are nit picking the details and letting all of Rome burn... So to speak.
Air brushing...you've opened up an interesting line of thought here. Too bad we can't airbrush the oil leak away.
Just had to look up your second reference, Dave, and see it also involves Winston - at Chequers of all places! There must be some photos of him without the cigar if they're that desperate.
It seems the air-brushing mind can't handle the blemishes in their own mirror.
