Haiku #205

There's freedom of speech
And then there's freedom to speak -
which implies having thought.

Oh so true. And we who have both treat with disdain. It will not be until we truly lose these freedoms that we will truly value them.

Hi Dave,

I certainly exercise the first two; not sure about the last one!

So good with those words!

You would think so, huh. The old saying that I grew up on "Think before you speak" has been buried somewhere.

Aye, there is the rub!

freedom is SO wasted on...some...the whole of Texas, I would say...

Thanks Everyone
I was a bit worried about this one - didn't really seem to me to be a haiku - as many of them are not - but this one absolutely lacking a haiku moment. You have restored my faith (not that it needed restoring) in your collective ability to divine positives in all situations.

Good point Gwei

By all means stick it on your fridge, Helen - there are worse places it might have ended up!

I, too, grew up with the Think before you speak maxim. How times do change!

I agree on the rub, Tabor, but can't speak for the whole of Texas, Linda Sue.

Thanks again, all

The haiku compactness of form has caught the connundrum in one. It also has a Chinese proverb quality, which I like.
