There was a whole program on this from National Public Radio today. I missed much because I was running errands, but the jist was that the rich monopolies were preventing those who could not afford it from getting access.
Until they lay optic fibre connections throughout UK, we folks who live in the sticks are unlikely ever to get it! And they also need to overcome the reduction in speed when more users are online.
Thanks everyone 2% getting what they're paying for - and they are all on cable. (i happen to be on cable, so relatively fortunate.) Fibre-optics help, the biggest problems being for those using telephone cabling.
