From Therese B. -- This haiku is very beautiful, in sound and imagery and wisdom. "Pardon the tree sparrow" would make a great title for a book of all these daily haikus.
I'd be pardoning the sparrow to if it eats all the pests before they eat the grain. Too bad the sparrow couldn't eat all the locusts that are about to hatch in Australia in their billions, possibly x2.

I agree it woud be a great name for a larger collection. Great Haiku my friend.
I place vote number three in favor of "Pardon the tree sparrow" as a great title.
Like the others, I think 'Pardoned the tree sparrow' is a fabulous line.
I agree with everyone else here, the second line is everything a line in a poem should be.

Anything with "sparrow" in it is cool...YOU- David King Sparrow-yes, I like that!
