Bits and Pieces

Could a landscape, in the way it haunts the mind,
become a match for any catchy tune?
Could it command your feelings or your thoughts
long after it has faded from the scene
the way great music or a poem can?

Or could a rose, caught in the corner of your eye,
be there until sound sleep washed it away?

What Nature breeds, it seems, can grab the soul,
but only man's creations can hold on.

Beautiful, even from the rear, and even if I didn't quite catch it.

And that's it for a bit. I'm taking a few days' break from blogging to see what else this great world offers. Hope to see you all at the weekend - D.V. W.P. U.S.A.

I for one know i am haunted by landscapes in the same way as music. some scenes I have returned to time and again either to be reminded of what first grabbed me or to try to capture it perfectly through the lens.

Enjoy your break. Don't be gone too long. Reading your poems makes me smarter... and I can't afford to go too long with out...

I do think that many things stay with a person...landscapes, poems, music.....and sometimes surface again at unexpected times! Enjoy your time away. We all should give ourselves a break sometime.

The rose looks delicate like bone china, with light shining through. Very pretty rose photo.

It's true, that man and his capturing methods, be it painting or poetry, are what preserve images down through time.
Have a nice rest.

Hi All!
Please excuse the general reply, but a big thank you for all the kind words and wishes. I shall do my best to see that the break does indeed feed my words.

A warm welcome and a special thank you, though, to first time commentors ds and Joe. Much appreciated remarks

Every reason that it could be just as beautiful from behind.

I've posted something on my blog which I'd love your reactino to, if you're ever stuck for inspiration. Of course I understand that it might NOT in fact inspire you! (If I had been a poet, it would have inspired me, anyway. )
