Round the aspen's trunk, the squirrel's double helix -- one up, one down,
like Aunt May's little house whose garden boasts the magic tree.
In my mind's eye the squirrel weaves the DNA I'm sure they share!

I se squirrels in a whole new light. Thanks Dave!
Very clever, Dave!
very interesting look at the squirrels dave...i love to watch them playing...cool pairing it with dNa
Observant comment on how the squirrels move. Yes, they go opposite directions when at play. Nicely Dave!
Squirrels forming a double helix - I'd never realised that before, but they often do:-)
DNA / squirrels scampering! Lovely!
First read through, my mind filled with many, second time through I imagined one running up and down. Depends on whether they possess the helix or move in that pattern while they make artful dance of the DNA they share with ... all of us?
Ah! I've seen such scamperings so many times up north and at my grandparents' farm. Delightful, memorable write with a touch of humor and whimsy. Well done.
This is delightful Dave ~ I like those squirrels running up the magic tree ~
this poem is so visual
Ask anybody to explain what a spiral staircase is and they will immediately stir the air with their index finger.
For your poem we need two of those :-)
Interesting take on the squirrels.
Such a wonderful eye. Great instincts, married to rich observation/education. Always edifying! :-)
haha..so cool...just a perfect fit me thinks
Great image the squirrel's double helix.
I love the squirrels in my garden, but never ever I would have thought about DNA... great images.
Ha! This is the 50th anniversary of the discovery of DNA - isn't it? Something like that. Amazing - and a lot of fun here with the conjunction of Aunts and squirrels. k.
That is fabulously funny! I never would have thought of the squirrels spiralling up and down the trees as if they were double helices. Well done!
What Semaphore said! :)
Brilliant - thank you.
Canny little things, they be!
Thanks for saying.
Yes, I find them quite fascinating.
Maybe they know more than we imagine!
Yes, they leave us with a lot to conjecture!
Thank you so much.
Thanks Grace, good to have your thoughts.
I find this very pleasing to hear. Thank you.
Maybe... but be careful which two you use, won't you?
Thanks for saying...
Very kind comment. Thank you so much.
Thanks. Good to know you think so.
Well, maybe not ALL squirrels are into DNA...
