On Tasting Magic Mushrooms
The magic mushrooms by the shed...
I hadn't tried them until now.
A fairy tempted me with toasted bread,
then nothing seemed the same somehow.
At any rate, dad's raspberry canes
I saw were ramps of dandelions,
were lits for piss - en -lits,
bedwetting swains - crabs and other crawling scions.
while on the yellow duvet sat
a gecko of a cheerful aspect
who kissed a pink and slinky bat
in fancy dress from Bats Direct.
And in the hawthorn overhead
a top bunk-lit for peeing-in,
which as I wrote became instead
a jester with a world-wide grin.

...reading this is like playing plants vs zombies...and one i most demanded to get was the magic mushrooms aka hypno-shrooms next to ice-shrooms... funny how the zombies would devour each other upon tasting of the hypno-shrooms... ha, that's how playful & imaginative your writing(to me) here sir... i like the images you produced on stanza mentioning the gecko... smiles...
Ha, Dave, I think I will pass on "magic mushrooms." They seem a bit too mischievous for my taste.
ha. i am rather hoping these are not the same mushrooms that i tried once much younger...hehe...fun hyphens going on as well...and if the sky begins to melt you might want to go inside or just close your eyes...ha...
I've led such a drab life Dave - never experimented - do you have some left?
Enjoyed your write - muchly.

This is like a nonsense rhyme - love it.
Perfect :-)
very imaginative poem for a magic mushroom.

Powerful and absolutely hilarious, words and plants savouring each other through memory. And a hint of that drunken celebration and joy close to "Snow" by Louis MacNeice.
"Peering?" oh well, never mind...
The fairy well tempted you. . .
helped shape the eye and poet and understanding you are today.
