An Alternative View

Regardless of his many lauded charms,
he has a lot of front, you must agree.
On more than one occasion recently
we've heard him give the boss a dressing down --
and always with a thunderous row the sure result.
I wouldn't trust him further, man,
than I can spit. Mixed messages are what
he'll dish you up -- I cannot even count
in thousands all the times he's thrown me
so far off the scent... well let's just say
he's left me well and truly in the soup
and seeing red, the hot blood pulsing in my veins!

From The Sunday Whirl (#107) these words from which to spin a poem: front, charm, messages, soup, thousand, pulsing, red, thunderous, dressing, count, spit, dish

...it reads as if you are trying to hit him but not in vulgar or quite scandalous gesture... and you left me intrigued with your words... i would say this man belonged to a genus that is widely in abundance these days... really scary to think how our environment are preoccupied with fears of many fallacies... liked the latter part a lot... smiles...

Obviously someone obnoxious and not easily taken to having friends around him. He seemed to frighten off people from him. Nicely Dave!

Amazing what you can put together with a few suggested words. I am intrigued and will look for some of the others.

This is great gusto!! Your open heart seems to have been tossed and turned by the waves and stirred up in the air by the sea breezes!! A lovely soupy dish this is!!

Ah - a very funny kind of character study - colored in red - this reminded me a little of Browning -My Last Duchess - where he writes in such a familiar direct way to the reader - it works very effectively. k.

Yes, the sociopath is a difficult one to deal with. Well done, Dave.

Mysterious and intense David. This poem reminds me of Robert Frost. In the final suspension a moment of hot blood pulses also in the reader's veins!

For a second I thought you were writing about our Prime Minister! :-)

Great poem. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

Hank
Well, he certainlt scares me off, Hank! Thanks again.

Carl
Yes, it's true. I avoided Wordles for ages because the whole idea of them seemed false - which in a way it is - but maybe there's something I haven't quite sussed yet!

Nanka
Wonderful comment. Thank you so much.

manicddaily
Thanks for the comment, and particularly for the association, which I appreciate very much.

Brian
though they do say that getting on with such is good for the soul...!!!

Marianne
Thanks so much.

Cloudia
Oh, Goodness, gracious me, you've noticed it too!

flaubert
Thanks for saying.

Tommasso
Oh, that's a really warming comment to hear! Much thanks for.

Mary
Kind words. Thanks very much.

A Cuban in London
Well, come to that, I didn't actually say that I WASN'T writing about him, did I?

Dave - I think you are correct about wordles and artifice to be sure, but if the exercise of using the linked words leads to the creativity and inspiration for the poem you have truly created something original from the conjured origins. Nothing wrong with that.

Consequences & risks. Hard to disentangle yourself from them. Better to accept that.

Good observations. ~Mary
