Strange Meteorology

Pin pricks
these rain drop darts
colder than we'd thought...
Rain darting
copse to field
then field to lake
and back to copse.

Spiralling indeed.
Our eyes have followed it
above the heathered hills.
We are agreed
the shower returning
airborne in the sense of everyday
seems not to touch the surface of the lake
so bright the light reflecting there.

Day darkens
and the lake's arms open,
welcome back the darts
which pit the surface.
Tiny craters
each with its tall steeple
placed dead centre.
(Strange, I had not noticed them before.)

Short lived, of course,
as everything is bound to be
in such a spiralling universe.

This is truly beautiful Dave. I stood mesmerised and watched the rain return to the lake.

So much more interesting than 'It poured with rain'. I shall never look at rain in quite the same way again.

Rain drops ARE like darts, aren't they? And...yes...everything in this universe is short lived. Raindrops, human, alas....everything. You've got me thinking, Dave.

How acutely observed. Steeples. I have never seen those in raindrops on water before. Now I will look out for them. Another good poem, Dave. You do so many.

It is all transient~but we tend not to see that, by way of our emotions. ~Mary

The life cycle of a raindrop, within the spiral of Nature's whole.
There is a beauty here that brings a lump to the throat and a sense of connectedness to all life.

I am SO moved.:)

Yes, in the craters made by the rain drops. I can't claim to have seen them before - or since, for that matter!
