Great songs you left us Rabbie lad,
some natty verse, an annual binge -
but you yourself... I'm no so sure!
Wee, sizzling, brazen sausage beastie,
what shame lies hidden in thy breastie
beside thy manly cousin, Haggis?
Oh Rabbie, all the world loves thee
for bringing Johnson's English in
to help thine Ayrshire Scots tongue oot.

Very funny!
What a fun tribute to Rabbie on his Birthday. I understand Gerard Butler will be appearing nude in a new movie about the bard. Any haiku in honor or this event?
dave - i don't want to know how you do this . . . three quality pieces all on one shift!!!!! hilarious! steven
Great stuff. Good for a monday morning laugh.
I read this to myself out loud, with a thick accent, of course. Thanks for the smiles!
Hi Dave,
No.3 could be fighting talk!!
I LOVE IT! You are going from strength to strength Dave. I particularly like the idea of a sausage beastie!!!
Dave, your haiku continuing spree shows and transmits joy and energy, I can't imagine where that "beastie" and "breastie" come from nor I know anything about Haggis but love it all like a dance.
I don't know if you "read" too much into "Not Quite Forgetting" but I certainly understand the maybe too overbrimming metaphysical bend you perceived. It's perhaps just what I wanted to stress.
Thank you for your comment.
Hilarious and a delightful celebration of Robbie and his language--and you did come up with not one but three new Burns poems!
Very clever!
Aye!

Great Modern Ode to the immortal memory of Robert Burns no doubt. I like your turn, counterturn and stand.
The stand was definitely effective.
Anyway that's my analysis of the poem.
Perfect tribute for a birthday roast and toast. Well done, Dave. Well done.
Dianne
Glad you liked it. Thanks for saying.

I'm not sure I could do justice to that particular happening!

As it happened, my eyes were watering when I read your comment - consequently, I didn't register the f in shift! Ah, well...
Carl
Thanks Carl - I do remember Mondays and the need for a laugh.

I wish I could have heard the thick accent!
Derrick
Which is the reason for number 2 being there.
Weaver
Yes, I quite liked that. I think I would have preferred them the other way around, but it didn't work.

And thanks.

A very flattering analysis me thinks, but many thanks. (Incidentally, I have tried several times to visit your blog, but my b rowser becomes un responsive - due to a script causing it to run slow, apparently.)
Ronda
Much thanks. Nice to know.
